An electronic device which is used for verifying the electrical connections in a cable or other wired assembly is known as cable testers. Cable testers consists of a source of electric current, a volt meter and a switching matrix which is used for connecting the current source and the volt meter to all of the contact points in a cable as these parts also have microcontroller and a display to automate the testing process and thus display the testing results. The common ways for the connection are a continuity test and a resistance test and the common ways to test for the short ways are a low voltage test and high voltage test, the low voltage test is connected between the conductors which are not connected and the amount of current is measured. In high voltage test the amount of increased voltage is measured which makes the connections as the voltage causes insulation of nearly shortened wires due to break down.These cables come in a variety of shapes, standards and functions as these network cables are used for connecting the computers with each other. This cable tester is a handheld electronic device which is used for checking electrical and physical properties, integrity and the connectivity etc. The types of cable testers are fiber optical cable tester which is known as handheld troubleshooting device that sends red light from a semiconductor laser down the fiber to check for faults such as cracked fibers or defective splices. Another type of cable testers are network cable testers can only be identified if the wires are paired correctly.
A network cable is a simple apparatus which merely identifies whether current flows through the cable or is at professional level which is also a complex device which gives additional information which helps to identify the problem. Basic network cable testers are tested for simple connectivity issues but find it difficult to identify the problems.
