Medicated Aromatic Plants

Aromatic herbs or medical plants have gifted with abundance medicinal properties. They are obtained in form of roots, stems, flowers, seeds, fruits and even the whole plant. The aromatic herbs are extensively used in traditional systems of medicines i.E. Ayurvedic obtained from wild sources leading to dwindling of populations of numerous plants. The medicinal plants like aconitum heterophyllum (atish), a.Deinorrhizum, cochicum lutium (chlchicine plant), gentiana kurroa are widely cultivated in western himalayan and have become endangered species. Commiphora wightii (guggul) is produced in gujarat and rajasthan has been much exploited for gum resin podophyllum hexandrumi (baba kakari) and nardostachys grandiflora (jatasmansi) cultivation is restricted to the himalaya region. Other herbal products plants that are cultivated on a very small scale exclusively used in indigenous systems of medicine, such as kali mirchi (pepper nigrum), haldi (curcuma longa), adraja (zingiber officinalis), dhaniya (coriandrrum), sanuf (foeniculum), ajawayn (trachyspernum) etc.
