| Steering And Suspension Systems
|
Suspension systems are used in vehicle by front and rear springs to suspend the vehicle's sprung weight. The springs for suspension include leaf springs, coil springs, air springs, and torsion bar. These are used in sets for each vehicle, and paired off in various combinations. They are attached by several different mounting techniques. The system also includes shock or strut, and sway bars. The suspension system has two functions, to keep the car's wheels in firm contact with the road and to provide a comfortable ride for the passengers. The steering system in a vehicle includes steering wheel and column, a manual gearbox and pitman arm or a rack and pinion assembly, linkages, steering knuckles and ball joints and the wheel spindle assemblies. They add a hydraulic pump, fluid reservoir, hoses, and lines, a power assist unit mounted on or integral with and a power steering assembly.
