Electric Traction Motors

Traction motors are primarily used for locomotive applications but large application of these motors includes industrial applications like steel and paper mills and rubber mixers. Ac traction motors often operated in ac current are typically synchronous induction motors. They give you limited speed ranges that can't vary the frequency of the power, they accelerate up to a fixed speed and then hold the train at that speed. They largely have applications in locomotives.

Dc traction motors come with spectrum features like nose suspended axle-hung type with taper roller bearings suspension unit, high horsepower ideal for locomotives. These motors run on ac current. Most traction machines are operated with high voltages. These motors have been developed with a vast use in electromagnetic design, construction, insulation and ventilation engineering and of the abundance of experience in the manufacture of direct current machines.
