Coffee Beans

Coffee is a dark, flavorful and aromatic widely consumed beverage made by grinding roasted seeds (also referred as beans) of the coffee plant. Though sometimes served cold, it is typically served hot.

A coffee bean is the beanlike seed of the the coffee plant present inside the red or purple pulpy fruit of the coffee plant which is known as coffee cherries or coffee berries, most commonly contain two seeds with their flat sides together. Coffee beans are removed from the coffee cherries which is either discarded as waste or used as fertilizer.

Coffee beans are an important export product for some countries. Currently, about 25 types of coffee trees exist, the variation stemming from environmental factors such as soil, weather, and altitude. Some of them are coffea arabica, coffea benghalensis, coffea robusta, coffea congensis, coffea excelsa, coffea gallienii, coffea bonnieri, coffea mogeneti, coffea liberica, and coffea stenophylla etc. The seeds of different species produce coffee with slightly different characteristics. The two main species are coffea robusta and coffea arabica. Coffea arabica accounts for about 75% of the world's coffee trade. The robusta strain produces less expensive beans, largely because it can be grown under less ideal conditions than the arabica strain.

Coffee trees grow best in a temperate climate without frost or high temperatures. High altitude plantations located between 3,000 and 6,000 feet (914.4 and 1,828.8 meters) above sea level produce low-moisture beans with more flavor. Today, brazil produces about half of the world's coffee.

Cherries of the coffee plant are processed to obtain green coffee beans. The pulp of the cherry is removed leaving the seeds or beans, which is known as green coffee beans. It then dried. All green coffee beans are roasted to obtained gourmet coffee beans, and then ground to prepare a stimulating aromatic drink., the method that is used varies and can have a significant effect on the flavor of roasted and brewed coffee. all coffee is roasted before being consumed the roasting process has a considerable degree of influence on the taste of the final product. Coffee roasting is a complicated chemical process that creates the distinctive flavor of coffee from a bland bean. Unroasted beans contain all of coffee's acids, protein, and caffeine - but none of its taste. It takes heat to spark the chemical reactions that turn carbohydrates and fats into aromatic oils, burn off moisture and carbon dioxide, and alternately break down and build up acids, unlocking the characteristic coffee flavor. One of these aromatic oils is caffeol, which is largely responsible for coffee's aroma and flavor.

Coffee can be sold roasted by the supplier; alternatively it can be home roasted. Home coffee roasting is easy and economical. In very little time and with very little money, you can turn green /raw / unroasted coffee beans into the best-tasting cup of gourmet coffee or espresso you have ever tasted
