Signalling transformers generally used for railway signalling purpose. They also used in railway lighting for trackside maintenance, site lighting etc. Trackside maintenance requires the use of portable tools and site lighting, which makes the provision of a reliable low voltage trackside supply essential. Generally, they provide a 4.0 kva single phase 240v / 110v isolating transformer, with petroleum jelly filled and enclosed in a galvanized sheet steel tank, complete with 63 amp socket outlet. These electrical transmission and distribution equipment are often fabricated with an insulating material with attaching electrical conductor, and various types of electronic devices. A range of three phase variable signalling transformer assembled on a supporting structure made from mounting plate, spacer, and stud tie bars. Aluminium angel support are available for the mounting the assembly onto a back panel. These three phase units can be supplied with a straight spindle. Or a bevel gear drives, or fully motorized, with cam-operated micro-switches for adjusting end stop or intermediate signalling positions.
