Rf attenuator is a circuit that reduce the power level of a signal by a certain amount (gain), with little or no reflections. The output signal is reduced in respect to the input. This electronics part is of two types that are widely used like fixed or variable. A fixed attenuator is a device used to reduce power levels of a signal by a fixed amount. This telecommunication equipment is keenly designed to be used in base stations, pem equipment and general laboratory applications. They are available in different configurations in various ohms. Fixed attenuators are available in different configurations like chip, coaxial and waveguide implements. A variable attenuator is a circuit in which the attenuation can be varied between two values in a specified range. There are five attenuator topologies commonly used in microwave circuits, the tee, the pi, the bridged tee, the reflection attenuator and the balanced attenuator.
