A radio receiver is an electronic receiver that detects and demodulates and amplifies the transmitted signals. They are used under different frequency ranges for wide transmission and broadcasting applications. They are available in different configurations for diverse frequency range. They can be classified as heterodyne, superhet, or superheterodyne. A heterodyne receiver is an ideal radio receiver that combines a locally generated frequency with the carrier frequency to produce a supersonic signal that is demodulated and amplified. The superheterodyne receiver produces an intermediate frequency (if) by the process of heterodyning or beating. This can be accomplished when two frequencies are mixed to produce the beat frequency. A trf receiver is fabricated with loosely coupled tuned circuits to increase selectivity and each circuit is ganged so that they resonate at the same frequency. But, in a superhet receiver the rf amplifier, mixer, and local oscillator are ganged to produce an intermediate frequency.
