Cement one thing or an item which is used for binding or making things hard enabling it to separate it from each other. Usually cements are seen on construction sites where it binds the material and then thickens it so that it remains intact. Thus cement used in the construction sites are differentiated as hydraulic and non hydraulic. Hydraulic cements are better known as portland cement and non hydraulic are very common known as lime and gypsum plaster which are very commonly used in formation of household base.The main type of cement is known as blended cement which is produced by grinding higher strength cement which is manufactured with high quality process. With the use of this cement the construction lasts for longer. Also it reduces the cracking and extensibility which results in the improvement of the workability. The types of blended cement are portland pozzolana cement which is produced by intergrinding of clinker along with gypsum and pozzolana material in certain portions. Pozzolana is a natural or artificial material which contains silica in a very much reactive form. It is very much finely divided in state as it has silica and a mixture of calcium hydroxide which possess cement properties. This cement needs maximum level of strength and durability as it used for the critical applications.
This cement is mixed in the water so as to form extra strong cementing material which would avoid wet cracking, thermal cracking, and also is very much supported with the workability of concrete and mortar. Thus it can be grinded separately or together. The other type is the portland cement which is composed of calcium silicate and of aluminum which are thus obtained by blending of predetermined proportions of limestone clay and other minerals as well. Thus today famous brands of cements in the industry are ambuja, birla, jaypee etc which very hold and possesses those properties as that of the other cements.
