In the arizona desert in the 1920s, people would often sleep outside on screened-in sleeping porches during the summer. On hot nights, bed sheets or blankets, which soaked in water, would be hung inside of the screens. Whirling electric fans would pull the night air through the moist cloth to cool the room. This rudimentary concept later became more refined to provide a low-cost, low technology alternative to refrigerated air conditioning. This device is known as air cooler. Substitute names for it would include evaporative cooler, swamp cooler or desert cooler. Air coolers are different from air conditioners as the latter use vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycles.Small air coolers can be often placed in windows, much like a window air conditioner. This requires very little installation. Larger units usually require ducts to distribute the air, but these can be an existing forced air duct system in the house. Many people appreciate the fact that air-cooling adds moisture to the air, which helps to keep wood furniture and fabrics from drying out. The moist pads through which the outside airflows are also fairly efficient air filters, trapping some dust and pollen. Since the pads are continually wetted, trapped particles are flushed out and trapped in the bottom of the cooler. Because the technology is simpler, an air cooler costs about half as much as an air conditioner that will cool the same sized area. Modern designed air coolers for homes, offices, kitchens are so simple to install, just roll it, plug it and turn it on .The air coolers can be in custom sizes such as personal air coolers, portable air coolers. Or window-less air coolers that give highest performance available in a compact design. There is wide demand for any kind of portable air coolers because of its compact size and since it does offer a fully integrated air exhaust system. There are some coolers available in the market that provide cool atmosphere in hottest atmospheres such as in manufacturing plants, outdoor units etc
