Wet strength polymers develop the mechanical strength of a paper. This wet strength agents are added to a variety of paper products like paper towels, hygiene paper napkins. A natural biopolymer wet strength agent is quiet efficient for water resistance. The chemical composition of these wet strength agents either act as protective agent by preventing swelling or form new resistant bonds through reinforcement mechanisms. Water resistant wet strength papers are resistant to other solvents like certain chemicals. These papers are used for bar code printing. These wet strength papers are also made from bio degradable paper by certain manufacturers. Water resistant papers are available in variety of materials, colors, designs and types. Wet strength agents are added to other papers like fancy designed papers for gift wrapping, cushioning and protecting fragile items . Certain face tissue paper and toilet papers are also added with wet strength agents.
