Flow Measurement Meters, Environmental
|
Flow measurement meters are categorized depending on their varied applications. Gas flow meters are used for measuring the flow or quantity of a moving gas in an enclosed pipe or passage. Measuring the flow of gas is a critical need in many industrial plants. In some operations, the ability to conduct accurate flow measurements is so important that it can make the difference between making a profit and taking a loss. Ultrasonic flow meters use sound frequencies to determine flow rates. They can be either doppler effect meters, which measures the frequency shifts caused by liquid flow or time-of-flight meters, which use the speed of the signal traveling between two transducers that increases or decreases with the direction of transmission and the velocity of the liquid being measured. The frequency shift is proportional to the liquid's velocity. The ultrasonic flow meters do not work well with liquids with suspended solids or air gaps. They do not work well with liquids with suspended solids or air gaps. Most liquid flow measurement instruments determine the flow rate inferentially by measuring the liquid's velocity or the change in kinetic energy.
