Azo dye is a chemical, which has wide usage in all pharmaceutical companies. It is a synthetic dye that has the azo group of two nitrogen atoms (nn) connecting aromatic ring compounds. These dyes are usually found in three main colours namely red, yellow and brown.
azo dyes are manufactured from atomic amines and are divided into subgroups according to the amount of azo chromophores present in the molecule e.G. Monoazo dye contains a single azo chromophore and a triazo dye contains three azo chromophres.
