Quick lime or burnt lime is originally known as calcium oxide which is white in color and also alkaline crystalline solid when kept at room temperature. The broadly used term lime connotes this term known as calcium as it includes or contains inorganic material in which carbonates, oxides and hydroxides of various elements like calcium, silicon, magnesium, aluminum and iron predominate which is known as limestone. The process by which calcium oxide is obtained is known as thermal decomposition of material such as limestone which highly contains calcium carbonate which is processed by heating material as quick lime is not at all stable and when cooled will spontaneously reacts with the carbon dioxide immediately.Quicklime can serve irritation when inhaled or placed in contact with moist skin or with the eyes. Thus this inhalation can cause sneezing, coughing, labored breathing. It is widely used as chemical compound which is produced by heating of calcium carbonate. The process is very much reversible since the quicklime has cooled after which it immediately starts absorbing carbon dioxide from air. Lime is widely used in the production of glass and its ability to react. Quick burnt lime uses high reactive product which is largely applicable in the various industrial applications.
Calcium oxide is more commonly known as quicklime because of its properties which is that it does not react with the water so readily and carbon dioxide to form limestone which is produced in very large quantities by the synthetic method which happens by heating of limestone. Calcium oxide is used for other purpose which includes at the construction which manufactures bricks and plasters. This calcium oxide is used in the production of paper and pulp industry. Also it is used in the manufacture of glass products which is glass industry. Thus this chemical calcium oxide is known for utilizing the physical as well as chemical qualities.
