An inorganic compound which is commonly called as caustic potash along with sodium hydroxide which is colorless and has prototypical strong base is known as potassium hydroxide. Potassium hydroxide has many niche and industrial applications as these applications exploit reactivity towards acids which are very much corrosive in nature. Potassium hydroxide is often used for drying basic solvents especially amines and pyridines and also holds variety of uses which are potassium hydroxide is used in the manufacturing of bio diesel which is more expensive than using of sodium hydroxide. The main material which is used in the process is known as glycerin which is considered to be inexpensive food supplement for live stock as it is processed bio diesel from potassium hydroxide.Potassium hydroxide is known for its reaction with that of sodium hydroxide and also is pure in nature and thus forms white deliquescent crystals. Potassium hydroxide is highly used for commercial and laboratory use as it is in the form of white pellets. Potassium hydroxide is very commonly known as caustic potash and closely resembles sodium hydroxide in its chemical properties which have similar uses includes of making soaps, in bleaching, and also in manufacturing of chemicals. Potassium hydroxide is known for its metallic base and it is alkaline and also has a strong base along with sodium hydroxide, lithium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, barium hydroxide etc. Potassium hydroxide is used for many purposes and these are in agriculture this potassium hydroxide is used for correcting ph of acidic soils and also can be sued for fungicide and pesticide.
Also potassium hydroxide is widely used in the chemical industries as de foaming agents used in manufacturing of paper, formulation aid for food etc. Potassium hydroxide which is in the powdered form is used in manufacturing of cosmetics, medicine intermediate and also in potassium chemicals. Also is very used in synthetic rubber, food addictives and dye stuffs.
