An organic compound which is colorless solid and also is known as dicarboxylic acid is called as oxalic acid. Oxalic acid is considered to be stronger than that of acetic acid and also has conjugate base as oxalate which is reducing agent as well as chelating agent which is used for metal cations. This oxalic acid occurs in dehydrate form and is mainly manufactured by the oxidation of carbohydrates or glucose with the use of nitric acid. For scientific purpose this oxalic acid is readily available and also can be prepared in the laboratory by oxidizing sucrose with the use of nitric acid in a very small amount.
Oxalic acid is very much used in the restoration of wood as its reducing properties are used in platino type and also are used for cleaning grubbiness from dirty leather to get back to the flesh of the leather as before reintroducing preservatives. Oxalic acid is a chemical compound of hydrogen, carbon and oxygen. This oxalic acid has many uses in the industries like construction, joinery furniture restoration and can also be helpful at home. These oxalic acids are not only used for wood but are also used for treating polish and repair other materials such as stone, marbles and stainless steel. Oxalic acid is known for effective for the control of varroa mites as it has to be prepared shortly before use and should be used immediately. Oxalic acid for home purpose is also used for removing rust stains on porous surfaces such as carpets and clothing's.

This oxalic acid is present in many plant products like sour grass, rhubarb and buckwheat and also is combined with many metals such as calcium in the body to form oxalate crystals which could even irritate the gut and kidneys.
