Fuel oil is a fraction obtained from petroleum distillation, either as a distillate or a residue. Fuel oil is used to indicate the heaviest commercial fuel that can be obtained from crude oil, heavier than gasoline and naphtha. According to the quality of the oil the fuel oil additive is graded into different categories that include distilate fuel oil, diesel fuel oil, light fuel oil, fossil fuel oil or others. Diesel is a fuel oil that is used as a fuel in the vehicles that include trucks, ships and some cars. It is often used as a backup fuel for peaking power plants in case the supply of natural gas is interrupted or as the main fuel for small electrical generators. This chemical compound is the cheapest fuel available in the market. Bunker fuel is technically any type of fuel oil used aboard ships that gets its name from the containers on ships and in bunkers of the port. This petroleum product powered boilers, railroad locomotives and steamships.
