Oil an important ingredient which is used for many purposes which are cooking, aroma etc holds an essential place as these oils are extracted from plants few of these are coconut oils, palm oil etc. Types of applications include culinary which is used for cooking as well as for flavoring, medicinal used in aromatherapy, essential oils, cosmetics used in perfumes, bath products and the ways in which the oils are extracted are from plants which include distillation, expression, maceration and solvent extraction. Oil is soluble in organic solvents as oils have high carbon and hydrogen content and are known as nonpolar substance.Types of oils are organic oils and mineral oils of which organic oils are those oils which are produced from plants, animals and other organic processes as these oils are remarkable in their diversity. Mineral oils are found in porous rocks underground from organic material through various geochemical processes. These oils are classified as mineral oils as they do not have an organic origin on human timescale. Mineral oils are by product of distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline and other petroleum based products from crude oil. Three types of refined oil are paraffinic oil, naphthenic oils and aromatic oils. The use of these mineral oils are utilized in many industries which are medicine, cosmetics, mechanical and electrical purpose. Especially in cosmetics mineral oil is used in lotions, cold creams, ointments and cosmetics. It is very much lightweight inexpensive oil which is odorless and tasteless and also is used for removing make up. For food preparation it is used as substitute for fat and also used for greasing cookware and bake ware to thus prevent food from sticking. Another type of oil is volatile oil are very much fascinating herbal constituents and are mixtures of hydrocarbons and oxygenated compounds which is as well soluble in water and alcohol.
