Tennis Balls
Tennis is the game that quickens the eye, steadies the hand, and sets the whole body tingling with a delightful exhilaration, depends on the ball.

Tennis balls are the bouncing balls designed for the sport of tennis, designed similarly to a baseball, though they differ in color, weight and composition. Even though, as the name suggests, the tennis balls are used primarily in tennis, they can also be used as a safe substitute for games where a solid ball is necessary, for example, to replace a cricket ball, which can inflict damage or injury if not used correctly. Tennis balls can also be used for playground games for children such as four square or wall ball.

With a lot of people taking up tennis today not only as a casual weekend sport but also professionally it is but obvious that the demand for these tennis balls would increase. The tennis balls today are optic yellow or greenish yellow in color. This color is intended to have the best overall visibility. Some argue that orange is more visible in certain conditions, but it doesn't show up well on tv, so it won't be adopted for many pro events.

Unlike other balls, the tennis ball has gone through an incredible history. Tennis balls used to be made of leather that had been stuffed with wool or hair. Tennis balls went through several more steps over the years before they turned into the yellow fuzzy balls that they are today. Today's tennis balls are made of the inner core - formed rubber - and cloth. Depending on what type of court a player is going to play on, he or she is going to want a tennis ball of different thickness and density.

Tennis balls are made of two pieces of rubber cemented together. They are then covered with fabric, usually wool or synthetic felt. The seams between the two pieces are exposed but are covered with elastic sealant. When players inspect a ball prior to serving they are looking at the fabric to see whether it is showing any signs of wear and tear. If it has become worn and fluffed up that will slow the tennis ball down. Currently there are three different types of balls that can be pressurized or non-pressurized. Depending on the court, the tennis balls are selected.

On some occasions these tennis balls are also imprinted with a corporate name and logo after which they are used in various promotional activities of that company. On many occasions tennis balls are used in a variety of tele games mostly played at picnics or other outings or social gatherings. Tennis balls personally autographed by celebrity tennis players are also collected as momentos or auctioned for other social causes. These tennis balls also make beautiful gifts for tennis lovers especially for children. Gift of a tennis ball is inspiring for a young tennis player.
