A type of chemical used in textile and leather goods industry which inhibit or resist the spread of fire and also which can be separated into several categories which are minerals, synthetic minerals etc is known as fire retardants. The mechanism on which this material works depends on specific flame retardant and substrate, and also chemicals used are very much harmful. Flame retardants which consists of various chemicals the mechanism can be utilized depending on the use of specific chemical. The chemicals used in this material can damage liver, thyroid and can also cause neurological effects. These flame retardants are used as because these contain chemicals which are applied to fabrics which inhibit or suppress the combustion process. These interfere in the combustion at various stages of the processes which includes heating, decomposition, and ignition of flame spread.Types of flame retardants are vinyl tarps which are used for windows, walls of canopies and tents and also in the homes these are used on curtains and room drivers. These tarps protect the materials which get engulfed by fire which are also coated with mesh to keep harmful rays of the sun outside the coating. The another type which is commonly used is poly tarpaulin which is equipped with flame retardant coating which is usually used for damaged roofs, recreational vehicles and other household equipments. These are very much resistant to water, mildew and rotting. Also laminated vinyl tarps are very much famous and also are very sturdy used for covering indoor floors, dividers, salvage covers and other spaces as these also gain weight and are also tear resistant. The other types include canvas tarps which are cost effective alternative flame retardants which has a material that benefits of breath ability by making use of canvas which prevents sweating as these are water proof. Other types are halogen free flame retardant which has a low smoke density very good flame retardancy and also is based non- toxic and non corrosive.
