Industrial starches have wide range applications. Many applications within the chemicals and industrial binders industries incorporate starch derivatives, either as basic ingredient or as process intermediates. Starches are used as wet-end and dry-end additives for paper mills, corrugating adhesives, plasterboard core-binders, textile sizes, etc. They are manufactured in widest ranges of starches and derivatives such as polyols and dextrose. These products are marketed in three main sectors like the paper, the corrugating industry, and the chemicals/ industrial binders industry. For the paper industry starches are used in spraying, surface treatment and coating applications. Corrugating and paper processing industries are using starches as adhesives. In the chemicals and industrial binders industries, they are used as starch derivatives, either as basic ingredient or as process intermediates. Starches for plasterboard are developed for use as a core binder in the production of plasterboard or gypsum wallboard. This starch is designed to provide superior binding strength.
