Spectrometers are the optical instrument that measures the properties of light over a specific portion of electromagnetic spectrum. Spectrometers are generally preferred in spectroscopy in producing spectral lines and measuring their wavelengths and intensities. Spectrometers known as spectroscopes are used in spectroscopic analysis to identify materials and are often applied in astronomy and some branches of chemistry.
