A protective and preventive material which is widely used in industries thus for ensuring a painting or coating which adheres properly to substrates to which these are applied is known as adhesion testers. Adhesion testers are very much used in painting or coating industries as there are three different tests which are used for measuring the resistance of paints and coatings from substrates includes cross cut test scrape adhesion and pull off test as each of these are elaborated in a simpler manner. Cross cut test which includes a right angle lattice pattern which is used to measure the resistance of paints and coatings to separation of substrates as the pattern is cut into the coating and penetrates through the substrate. Scrape adhesion is used for determining the adhesion of coatings when they are applied to smooth and flat panel surface as these are helpful in giving relative ratings for a number of coated panels which also shows significant differences in adhesion.The various types of adhesion testers are pull off adhesion testers which measure adhesion coatings to metal, wood, concrete and other substrate. Another one which is known as tape test is considered to be effective when measuring several coated layers and a scrape test method is usually performed or carried out in laboratories as this type of adhesion is limited to the testing of paint and coating adhesion which is indeed smooth and have flat panel surface. A device which can be effectively utilized is known as balanced beam scrape adhesion tester as the weight is increased until the coating is removed.
